A Snellville woman was arrested and charged with public indecency along with an Atlanta photographer after police say the woman was posing nude near a Gwinnett County church earlier this month.
When Gwinnett police Officer B.P. Kelly approached an undeveloped area next to the First Pentecostal Slavic Church at 4415 Stone Mountain Highway, he said he found Natasha Smith, 22, of Snellville standing in the sun nude atop a rock hill and Corey Lightfoot, 42, of Atlanta photographing the woman with a digital camera, according to a police report obtained by Channel 2 Action News..
The photo shoot occurred just before 4 p.m. on Nov. 5, according to the police report.
The report said the woman quickly ducked behind some rocks as the officer approached, re-emerging a short time later in a white T-shirt and a pair of jeans. Smith and Lightfoot then descended the hill and approached the officer, the report said.
The officer said Lightfoot tried to assure him that other officers had been by earlier and had OK’d the photo shoot.
“I informed the male that while taking pictures alone was not the cause for my concern, the public nudity was,” Kelly said in his report.
The same couple had encountered Gwinnett officers several hours earlier in the same area after the officers had responded to an alarm at the church. The officers found a side door to the church open and after searching the church and finding nothing they secured it.
While leaving the church, however, the officers, B. Davidson and T.R. Tobler, said they saw Smith in a white T-shirt sitting on boulders, and Lightfoot walking around her with a large camera, according to the police report. As the officers investigated, the report says the man threw Smith a pair of jeans, which she put on behind the rocks.
The officers said they found “pump shoes, shirts, bras, panties and accessories everywhere. On one boulder was a towel and bottle of baby lotion.”
The officers also said a 2-year-old girl was present, later identified as Smith’s daughter, but that the child was not being photographed.
Smith and Lightfoot both denied nude photos were being taken near the church earlier in the day and, though suspicious, the officers let the couple go after they agreed to leave the area.
The couple, however, later returned to the same spot, the report said. That’s when Officer Kelly said he found the woman nude and posing for Lightfoot. The officers also found a gold GMC Yukon belonging to Lightfoot parked nearby and partially hidden by boulders.
Lightfoot, who told police he worked for UPS and did photography on the side, said Smith was posing nude because she wanted to become an exotic dancer, according to the report.
When Lightfoot allegedly agreed to let Kelly look at images in his camera, the officer said he found photos of Smith with and without clothing.
The police report said Lightfoot pleaded with the officers not to arrest them. “We were wrong,” the report quoted Lightfoot as saying. “Just let us go. We’ll never do it again.”
After taking the camera’s memory card, however, officers charged Smith and Lightfoot with public indecency and criminal trespass. They were taken to Gwinnet County jail and bond was set at $650 on each count.
The child who was with the couple earlier in the day was not mentioned as being present when Smith and Lightfoot were arrested later in the day.
