Cops: Woman drove drunk with kids, Ecstasy in car

Nov 9, 2011

A Cobb County woman accused of drinking alcohol and taking pain medication before driving with two children also had Ecstasy in her SUV, police said.

Acworth officers first spotted Paige Elizabeth Jordan, 40, weaving on Cobb Parkway in a 1996 Toyota 4Runner, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC. Jordan couldn't maintain her lane after turning onto Acworth Due West Road and then Nance Road, where she crossed the outside line Friday shortly before 8 p.m., police said.

When she was stopped a short distance away on Main Street, officers found an open bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade, which Jordan admitted to drinking in the previous hour, police said. Jordan said she'd also taken a Percocet, a prescription pain medicine, according to the warrant.

"Said accused's (Jordan's) pupils were constricted and non-reactive to light,: the warrant states. "Said accused did appear in an altered state when questioned by officers."

Four white pills inside the center console of the SUV tested positive for Ecstasy, police said.

Also inside the vehicle were two small passengers, ages 3 and 7. The warrant does not state Jordan's relationship to the children.

Jordan, of Acworth, was arrested and charged with DUI, two counts of DUI child endangerment, open container, failure to maintain lane and with having illegal drugs, according to jail records. She was released from the Cobb County jail Sunday evening after posting $10,000 bond.
