Police have recovered the gray pickup truck used by thieves to smash through the rear entrance of a Best Buy store in Snellville, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Gwinnett County police told Channel 2 they found the vehicle abandoned on Ronald Reagan Parkway and had it towed to the closest police department, Lilburn.

“The truck was recovered right out side of Lilburn ... between 1 and 2 this morning,” Snellville police Capt. Harold Thomas told the AJC Tuesday afternoon.

The dark gray Dodge Ram, he said, “was stolen out of Atlanta the night of the burglary … either late Sunday night or early Monday morning.”

Police also recovered two other vehicles believed used by the bandits – two Nissan Maximas, also stolen in Atlanta the night of the break-in, Thomas said.

“We had a witness that saw two additional vehicles. We believe they were at the scene,” he said.

Atlanta police recovered the cars Tuesday on Peachtree Street, Thomas said.

Investigators continue to seek those responsible for the break-in, which occurred at 3 a.m. Monday at the Best Buy in the 1700 block of Scenic Highway.

After driving the pickup through the roll-up door to the store's sound system installation bay, five people got out of the truck and broke through the glass leading into the main part of the store, Thomas said. Once inside, the thieves grabbed computers, iPads and cameras.

"They had their faces covered up, so we don't know if they were black, white, Hispanic, we don't even know that much about them," Thomas said. "All we know is that it was five people involved."

He said the burglars were in the store "a very short time, maybe less than two minutes."

A repairman on the scene replacing the 8 by 10 foot door said it’s “not that easy to get through” a door that size.

“But it’s one of those things, if somebody wants something, there’s a way to get to it,” said Lee Pulliam of Overhead Doors of Atlanta. “Somebody wants something and they have to get in one way or another, and usually it’s a door.”
