DeKalb County police accuse a man of luring an elderly relative from New York to live in Georgia so he could rip off the 87-year-old woman.
Dwaine Jervis of Lithonia is charged with elder exploitation and theft for allegedly taking money from the woman, a great aunt, according to police.
“The victim came into some money and the suspect convinced her to move to Georgia,” Shiera Campbell, police department spokeswoman, said. “He withdrew large sums of money from her bank account under the guise of taking care of her.”

He was not an official caregiver, Campbell said.
It isn’t clear what the money was spent on.
Further details weren’t released.
Jervis was released on bond and could not be reached for comment.
