Gwinnett County police arrested a man allegedly driving drunk on the wrong side of the road with a child in the car.
A person spotted a man driving erratically Saturday night along Level Creek Road near Sugar Creek and called police, according to Cpl. Jake Smith.
Officers caught up with the suspect, 37-year-old Rodolfo Delacuesta, in the parking lot of a convenient store, Channel 2 Action News reported. There, Delacuesta, of Sugar Hill, told officers he was at the store to buy gum, according to the police report.
But an officer smelled alcohol on Delacuesta's breath, saw open beer cans in the back seat and an 8-year-old child in the front seat. Delacuesta told police he had only had one beer.
"Of course it's not good for them to be doing this in the first place, but when they're putting their child in harm's way as well, we don't like to see that at all," Smith told Channel 2.
Delacuesta was arrested charged with DUI, child endangerment and violating the open container law. He was booked into the Gwinnett County jail shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday and released Sunday evening after posting $3,296 bond, according to booking records.
