A woman faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after allegedly ramming an Atlanta police car that had stopped to issue a citation to another driver early Saturday.
The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Drive, according to police spokesman Officer John Chafee.
Chafee said two officers were sitting in their patrol car, one writing a citation, when they were struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Kimberly Kendricks, 47.
The impact forced the officers’ car to hit the vehicle they had stopped. That vehicle had a female driver and two children, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The police spokesman said a Grady Memorial Hospital ambulance responded and one officer was treated at the scene for a sore knee, but he was not taken to the hospital. Neither the other officer, the occupants of the vehicle the police had stopped, nor driver accused of causing the accident was injured.
The Georgia State Patrol took Kendricks into custody and cited her with DUI, failure to maintain her lane and driving without insurance.
