A DeKalb County middle school teacher is accused of having sex with a student in his classroom and at her home, according to police.

Almarcus Dewayne Thomas, 42, of Lithonia, allegedly had a sexual relationship with the 15-year-old girl beginning last March, when the two had sex in his Tucker Middle School classroom, according to arrest warrants obtained by the AJC.

Thomas was denied bond at his first court appearance Thursday.

Thomas was arrested Tuesday and charged with four counts of aggravated child molestation and three counts of statutory rape, the DeKalb school police arrest report states. Thomas also faces one count each of sexual exploitation of children and sexual assault of a person in custody, records show.

The teen's father reported the allegations in December to school system police, who worked with DeKalb County police on the investigation, Walter Woods, school spokesman, told the AJC. Thomas has been on administrative leave since Dec. 22, Woods said.

While executing a search warrant at Thomas's home, investigators found images of the teen on the teacher's laptop computer, according to the arrest warrant.

In a separate incident, Thomas filmed a video under the skirt of another student without her knowledge or consent, according to police. The unlawful surveillance allegedly occurred Aug. 22 as the third week of school started.
