A man slain last month in the parking lot of Cumberland Mall had met his alleged killer in a deal involving counterfeit money, according to court testimony Thursday reported by Channel 2 Action News.

Rosano Wensly Bundel, 28, of Douglasville had arranged to meet with George Tabetando, 29, of Powder Springs outside the mall on Nov. 25, the busy shopping day after Thanksgiving, according to Cobb County police Detective Kenneth Kromer.

Instead of completing their business deal in the parking lot outside Macy’s department store, the two men apparently got into a dispute.

Bundel said he shot Tabetando in self-defense. But at Bundel's bond hearing Thursday, Kromer told the court that witnesses said they saw Bundel chasing the other man, firing shots as he ran.

"As [Tabetando] was going over the fence, he tripped; it looks like his leg may have gotten hung up on the fence," Kromer said. "Witnesses said that the suspect walked up to Mr. Tabetando as he was on the ground and fired at least one more shot at him."

Tabetando was shot near the Cobb Community Transit station. He was taken to Emory-Adventist Hospital in Smyrna, where he died from his injuries. Witnesses said the killer fled in a BMW.

Bundel surrendered to authorities on Dec. 2.

On Thursday, a judge denied bond for Bundel. He continues to be held in Cobb County Jail on felony murder and aggravated assault charges.
