The mother of a south Fulton County toddler who ate cocaine was arrested Wednesday, police said.

Andrica Daniel, 17, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon at the Palmetto Police Department, police said.

"We asked her to come in for more questioning, which she agreed to do," Palmetto police Sgt. Lee Gragg said. "At that time, she was arrested."

Daniel's mother, Ebony Daniel, 34, and her boyfriend Charlie Martin, 22, turned themselves in to police Tuesday.

Warrants were issued for their arrest after a 13-month-old boy was brought to Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Saturday afternoon after he ingested cocaine, police said.

The child was transferred to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. He was admitted to the hospital for observation, and police said he tested positive for cocaine. He has since been released.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Martin claimed to own the cocaine.

Gragg would not say whether police believed initial reports that Andrica Daniel was in the shower when the incident happened, or what led investigators to obtain an arrest warrant for her.

Martin, Ebony Daniel and Andrica Daniel were each charged with possession of cocaine, first-degree child cruelty and reckless conduct.

The grandmother and her boyfriend were booked into Fulton County Jail. They were due to make their first appearances before a judge Wednesday morning, but the hearing was postponed as the Fulton County District Attorney's office considered adding more charges, jail officials said.

Andrica Daniel is currently being held in the South Fulton Municipal Regional Jail in Union City. No bonds have been set for any of the suspects.

The boy is staying with relatives, and police said they are working with the Division of Family and Children Services to determine who should have custody of the child.
