The city of College Park announced last week that the United States Department of Agriculture awarded College Park a grant designed to improve healthy food access for local residents. The grant, totaling $222,663, was initially applied for by the College Park Economic Development Department and awarded to the city’s Metro Atlanta Urban Farm.
“We are excited that we were able to seek it out, apply for it and get the good news of being awarded this huge grant,” said College Park Mayor Jack Longino. “Securing this grant for the Urban Farm will create a healthier food source for many of our citizens.” The Metro Atlanta Urban Farm offers sustainable, efficient, non-pesticide farming.
