A College Park man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of his son, police said Thursday.
Fulton County police said the father, Johnson Bell Mitchell, 50, woke up his daughters, ages 11 and 12, shortly before midnight Wednesday at his home in the 2800 block of Greenbower Court and ordered them to clean the bathroom and kitchen.
The girlfriend of Mitchell's adult son argued with the father, saying one of the children needed to work on a school project instead, said Fulton police spokeswoman Kay Lester.
When Shaun Lamar Mitchell, 24, entered the argument, his father grabbed a knife and stabbed his son, police said. The son died at the scene early Thursday morning.
Johnson Mitchell is charged with murder and possession of a knife/firearm during the commission of a felony.
