The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will hold three public hearings on a possible tax increase this month before adopting the new budget in August.

For the owner of a $100,000 house, that annual increase would be $5.28.

There is a 2.53 percent increase over the 6.944 millage rollback rate with the proposed millage rate set at 7.12 for the general fund.

The first hearing will be 9 a.m. July 14 during the regular Board of Commissioners meeting in the BOC Room, second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

The other two will be special-called meetings at 6 p.m. July 14 and 4 p.m. July 22, both in the same location.

At the last hearing, the commissioners are expected to adopt the county millage rate and to ratify the county school district millage rate.
