The Harrison High School senior injured late Sunday when he fell off the back of a moving car underwent surgery on Monday.

Justin Harding, 18, hit his head on pavement after apparently jumping onto the 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, according to Cobb police. He was flown by air ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment, police said.

"He's still sedated and making small improvements," said Jeff Harding, Justin's father, on Wednesday. "That's about all we know."

The driver of the car was not charged, police said.

Harrison's graduation ceremonies are scheduled for May 23.
