Cobb County Commissioners will hold a public hearing Aug. 31 on the fiscal 2012 proposed budget.

Last month commissioners approved a 15.7 percent millage increase that helped close a projected $33 million deficit for the 2012 budget, which begins in October. Some service reductions and departmental cuts could continue through 2012 as Cobb deals with declining tax revenues.

The hearing begins at 2 p.m. in the commissioner's meeting room of the county government building, 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta.
