The Cobb Board of Commissioners will receive $875,000 for the sale of 1 acre at 3051 George Busbee Parkway to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia — although the asking price was $1.2 million.

The money will go into the 2005 special purpose local option sales tax program fund for transportation improvements.

Sitting on that site, near Kennesaw State University, is a 12,400-square-foot building that was a former Kids R Kids child care facility.

The county’s brokerage firm is McWhirter Realty Partners.

Also, the commissioners agreed Tuesday to sell or lease two parcels of vacant land, .364 acres and .057 acres, on Tower Road between Roselane Street and Kennesaw Avenue in the Kennestone Hospital area, also by McWhirter Realty.

The asking price is $395,000 per acre.
