The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted recently to carry over $8 million of the Cobb Fire Fund’s fund balance to the next budget year. Due to timing and personnel issues, several capital projects for the Cobb Fire and Emergency Services were not completed this year. The major expenditure will be nearly $6.4 million to relocate Fire Station 17 to 3321 Ernest Barrett Parkway and the anticipated purchase and relocation of Fire Station 12.
Other expenditures:
- $37,050 for review of the property for Fire Station 17 at 3321 Ernest Barrett Parkway, including a title examination, appraisal, survey, Phase 1 environmental study and subsequent tests or inspections.
- $334,432 to complete the renovation and remodel of the Cobb County Fire Annex building at 3200 Austell Road, Marietta.
- $60,000 for the annual replacement of two fire station roofs.
- $45,160 for resurfacing and maintenance at fire department facilities.
- $422,310 for tablet computers and docking stations for all 29 engines, ladder trucks, rescue units and trucks and reserves and provide tablet computers for the EMS and FMO teams.
- $24,233 for a new fire station generator.
- $44,650 for a new EMS unit All Terrain Vehicle (ATV).
- $240,000 for a new Air truck.
- $473,045 for computer software, including acquisition, first-year operating costs and a contingency for additional data conversion, training and customization.
