The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to condemn 11 parcels on the Interstate 75/Windy Hill Road Diverging Diamond Interchange and part of one parcel for the West Sandtown Road sidewalk project.

However, negotiations with property owners are continuing.

Affected properties include all of Arby’s, 7.5 percent of McDonald’s, about 21 percent of Bubbles Hand Car Wash, around 39 percent of the BP gas station, 1.3 percent of Pappasito’s Cantina, 4.2 percent of Belmont Place Apartments, 3.5 percent of Sky Suites, 11 percent of a vacant commercial lot, around 3 percent of a second vacant commercial lot, nearly half of a parking lot and 1.28 percent of Extended Stay Deluxe America.

Existing left-turn signals for vehicles entering I-75 will be eliminated to reduce crossing conflicts.

The sidewalk project consists of installing .27 miles of five-foot-wide sidewalk, curb and gutter on the west side of West Sandtown Road from Friendship Church Road to the existing sidewalk near Brody Lane.
