The Cobb County Board of Commissioners agreed 5-0 Tuesday to approve a new townhome design for the county with balconies and landscaping above retail space in a revived mixed-use development.
The property is on the north side of Paces Ferry Road, west of Overlook Parkway and on the south side of Bert Adams Road.
In 2008, the original rezoning for this property on 10.5 acres called for five stories, 353 residential units and 35,000 square feet of retail but was not developed due to the economic downtown, attorney John Moore said on behalf of the applicant, JLB Realty.
Now the plan by D & A Investment Group and Pereira Management calls for four stories, 30,000 square feet of retail, 12 townhomes above with balconies and landscaping of up to $1.2 million each.
While acknowledging that the Vinings Village Homeowners Association preferred only two stories, District 2 Commissioner Bob Ott said this townhome design is “something the county has never seen before.”
Agreeing, Commission Chairman Tim Lee said this development is “a perfect example of where the county needs to go with future developments.”
