Alcoholic beverages now may be sold at four Cobb County facilities during private events.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved this change 5-0 on Feb. 26.

Section 6-184 was added to the Cobb County Code, setting requirements for the sale of alcoholic beverages at these public facilities at Jim R. Miller Park, the Cobb County Civic Center, Jennie T. Anderson Theatre and the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre.

When rented to a private entity or individual and not open to the general public, alcoholic beverages may be sold to participants at these private events and not removed by them.

Alcoholic beverage caterers must obtain special event permits from the county.

Adult concession areas at these facilities must be approved by the parks and recreation director and the county manager.

These areas also must have clearly defined entrance signage to include methods for verifying identification for adults only, but children within their care will be allowed to enter those areas with the adults though not to be served alcoholic beverages.
