A portion of Abernathy Road in the Sandy Springs-Dunwoody area will be closed during the overnight hours through Friday as part of the continuing reconstruction of the Ga. 400/I-285 interchange, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

Westbound Abernathy from Peachtree Dunwoody Road to Ga. 400 will be closed for bridge construction from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday through Friday, GDOT said. Also, the ramp from northbound Ga. 400 to westbound Abernathy (Exit 5B, Sandy Springs) will be closed.

The recommended detour for motorists heading west on Abernathy is to turn left onto Peachtree Dunwoody Road, right on Mount Vernon Highway, and right on Barfield Road back to Abernathy. Drivers coming off northbound Ga. 400 should take the eastbound Abernathy exit (Exit 5A, Dunwoody), turn right on Peachtree Dunwoody and follow the detour.

The work is "weather permitting" and subject to change. Information: https://bit.ly/2jfU8S7
