The Gwinnett County School System was named Wednesday as Clean Air Schools District of the Year by the Clean Air Campaign, the Atlanta region's transportation management associations (TMAs), RideSmart and the Georgia Department of Transportation. The groups for 11 years have recognized the best commute option programs in Georgia and this year gave awards in 14 categories. Other winners include: Dr. Marlin Gottschalk, Evansdale Elementary in DeKalb County -- Environmental Leadership Award; Deputy Brian Reents, General Ray Davis Middle School, Rockdale County -- Clean Air Schools Champion of the Year; Sally Silver, GDOT Commissioner’s Award; government champions -- Roswell, Fulton County, Georgia Department of Administrative Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Best Overall Program/Small Business– Booz Allen Hamilton; Best Overall Program/Medium Business – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan; Best Overall Program/Large Business– Saint Joseph’s Hospital; Best Overall Program/Property Manager—Jamestown Commercial Management/999 Peachtree; Most Innovative Program -- Cobb EMC and Perimeter Shuttle; Telework Catalyst—Vocalocity.
