The Clayton County Board of Education will keep its current millage rate. Board members voted recently to maintain the school district’s 19.095 millage rate for fiscal year 2018.

With an increase in the county’s tax digest Clayton County Public Schools will collect an additional $2.4 million in funds for the school system. That will cost homeowners approximately $12.55 per year for taxpayers whose homes have a fair market value of $100,000.

The additional funds will support the FY18 budget which includes class size reduction and additional support to schools.

“The Board of Education, in approving the FY2018 budget, has not increased the millage rate,” said Pam Adamson, Chairman of the Clayton County Board of Education, “County residents should note that this increase in taxes is due to an increase in property values based on the county’s tax digest and does not result from any action by this Board.”
