Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has made another high-level appointment.

An announcement was made Tuesday, Jan. 29 that Peter Kadushin will be the new Director of Communications. He replaces Interim Communications Director Kelly S. Beaty who will remain with the executive office, leading public engagement and special initiatives for the administration.

Kadushin most recently served as Senior Communications Advisor, and previously Director of Communications, for Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, where he managed the communications office and led social media, local and national media strategies.

Prior to his service to Detroit, Kadushin served as Deputy Director of Communications for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, where he created and executed the communications rollout strategy for the Mayor’s Universal Pre-K program and led rapid media response. Before his work at New York’s City Hall, he was Deputy Press Secretary for the United Federation of Teachers. Kadushin has also been a reporter for both the New York Daily News and New York Post.

“It is an honor to be able to serve Mayor Bottoms and the people of Atlanta,” said Kadushin. “Atlanta’s future is bright, and my family and I are looking forward to becoming part of the city’s growth and transformation.”

Kadushin’s appointment is effective Feb. 11.
