A Carroll County child was life-flighted to a hospital Saturday after being found unresponsive inside a plastic playhouse, the sheriff’s office said.

The 6-year-old child was found in the Rock Springs mobile home subdivision and initial reports were that the child may have ingested an unknown quantity of various medications, including sleeping and anti-anxiety pills, according to sheriff's Captain Jeff Richards.

“After finding the medication they [children] returned to the playhouse [in the child's yard] and began taking the capsules apart and pouring out the ingredients,” Richards said. “At some point the victim swallowed some of the medication and then became sleepy at which time the friends reported the events to the child's grandmother where it had been staying.”

The child was taken to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta.

The captain said the child's parents were not at home at the time of the incident.

The sheriff’s office said the Division of Family and Children Services was called in and the child could be released early next week “if conditions improve and a safety plan has been approved through the DFCS.”
