Cherokee schools renew partnership with Woodstock arts group

The Cherokee County School Board has renewed a partnership agreement with the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village in Woodstock to continue providing arts support and programming to the school district, as it has for more than five years.
According to the agreement, Elm Street, 8534 Main St., will provide judges for district arts programs, shows and competitions; offer drama workshops and lessons; and make a touring troupe available to any district school for two performances on the same day at no cost, and additional performances as required at low cost.
The nonprofit also will continue to provide speakers for career and cultural arts days, offer field trips at minimal cost for literature-based and other main stage performances, provide character actors to visit schools as part of reading and literacy initiatives, provide internship opportunities to qualified seniors, and mentor up to six students per school year for senior projects.
The agreement runs through Oct. 18, 2019, and automatically renews for additional terms of up to five years.
