The Cherokee County School Board has renewed a partnership agreement with the Sequoyah Regional Library System providing for the reciprocal use of facilities, among other instances of cooperation.

The school district also agreed to distribute library information and communicate with library officials regarding future construction or renovation projects where land might be made available for construction of a public library.

The library system, which operates eight branches in Cherokee, Gilmer and Pickens counties, would provide summer programming information to students, judges for school contests and related functions and space for student work and school board information. Both schools and libraries would pursue joint grant opportunities and link to each others’ websites.

The partnership runs through September 2018 and automatically renews for additional terms up to five years unless terminated by either party.
