The Cherokee County School Board has approved an Aug. 3 reopening plan that gives families a choice of traditional in-person classes or digital learning; and details measures to protect children from the COVID-19 virus.

At school, when social distancing is not possible, face masks will be mandatory for teachers and staff and recommended, but not required, for students, according to Frequently Asked Questions posted with the reopening plan. To view the FAQs: https://bit.ly/CCSDfaqs20.

Classroom will have hand disinfectants and frequent daytime wipe-downs of high-touch surfaces, and schools will use scheduling to limit the number of students in, say, a cafeteria or passing in hallways at a given time. But due to space constraints, “we will not be able to consistently maintain six feet of distance” between students, the FAQs say.

Parents who wish to keep their children home must complete by Friday a Digital Learning Commitment Form, available at https://bit.ly/CCSDdlcommit20.
