Cherokee County fills final staff positions for coming school year

The Cherokee County School District announced filling the last leadership vacancies for the 2019-20 school year.

Lyn Turnell, a longtime Cherokee educator with experience in the classroom, counseling and as an assistant principal, has been named director of student assessment. Thomas Davis, a successful programmer, coder and product developer in the private sector, will be the district’s first supervisor of applications support services to develop software to improve district operations.

Jennifer Scrivner will take on a new, research role to improve teaching and learning. Brandy Phillips, a past Teacher of the Year and currently instructional lead strategist at Indian Knoll Elementary School, will be assistant principal at Ball Ground Elementary School STEM Academy.

Jaime Stowe, a registered nurse with 18 years of clinical experience including as a staff nurse with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, will be a lead nurse to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Lead Nurse Gwen Chambers.
