The Cherokee County School District on Monday announced tentative graduation dates of July 23-25 for the Class of 2020.

The district has reserved the auditorium of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, 11905 Ga. 92, to host the ceremonies, Superintendent Brian V. Hightower said in an open letter to Cherokee County families.

Subject to a final decision to be made by July 1, commencements will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 23, for River Ridge High School and 8 p.m. for Woodstock High; 4 p.m. Friday, July 24, for Cherokee High and 8 p.m. for Sequoyah High; and 9 a.m. Saturday, July 25, for Creekview High and 1 p.m. for Etowah High.

“The tentative plan is for our graduating seniors, as we have in years past, to invite all family and friends to attend,” Hightower said. “Should it be necessary to make adjustments to continue social distancing, such as limiting attendance, we’ll make an announcement by July 1.”

If the continuing COVID-19 outbreak makes ceremonies unfeasible, the district plans a virtual ceremony. Information: https://bit.ly/2KDKBmX
