Cherokee County commissioners are considering a $178.6 million budget for 2011, a reduction of $17.6 million or 9 percent from 2010.

The budget does not include any raises for employees, and eliminates 64 full and part-time positions that were previously frozen.

The board was presented with the budget Tuesday and will likely vote on it Feb. 1. Members of the public will have a chance to offer feedback at that meeting.

The proposed budget is available online at www.cherokeega.com.
