Chamblee reopens Vanet Road

Chamblee Public Works Department, working with Chamblee middle and high schools and city contractor A&S Paving Inc., have developed a solution to the school crossing at Vanet Road. A temporary wooden walkway has been constructed over the eroded area where the path opened Monday. This plan will allow the safe passage of students between Chamblee Middle School and Chamblee High School for the next three weeks.

The permanent solution will be constructed during DeKalb County schools’ Spring Break, which is April 3 -l 7. An 18-inch culvert pipe lies underneath the walkway, monitored by Chamblee Public Works over the course of the last several months. The erosion issue progressed to a point where city staff felt the walkway was a hazard and closed it for safety precautions.
