Peachtree Corners David Abercrombie, who qualified Sept. 2 to run against Alex Wright for city council Post 3, announced earlier this week he was withdrawing his candidacy. As a result, the mayor and three city councilmembers seats (Post 1, 3 and 5), which were up for re-election in November, will all be unopposed this year. With incumbents unchallenged, the city will not hold an election.

During the Peachtree Corners city council meeting Tuesday, Abercrombie sited personal reasons for his decision to withdraw his candidacy.

The mayor and council are elected to four-year terms. The next municipal election will be held in 2017.
