A Loganville man was charged with DUI after he crashed his car into a local restaurant Monday night, authorities said.

Frederick Wayne Herrington, 66, had a blood-alcohol level of .241, about three times the legal limit of .08, when he was arrested after the crash Monday night, according to the incident report by Loganville police.

The accident happened at the Cup and Saucer Diner on Lawrenceville Road. The restaurant will be closed for an extended period after the crash, according to the eatery’s Facebook page.

The officer said he smelled an odor of alcohol on Herrington while he was talking to him. Herrington told police that his toe was broken and his foot would not engage the brake, according to the police report. Eventually, the suspect fell down, and the officer requested medical personnel to respond.

When he patted down Harrington, the officer found two locking knives and a Cobra .38 derringer.

No one in the restaurant was injured. The Cup and Saucer Facebook page reported that employees will receive "uninterrupted" pay during the closure.
