Car flips into daycare playground as children play, bystanders say.

Parents were dropping their children off at Kids R Kids Learning Academy on Tuesday morning when a car veered off the road and crashed into the day care’s playground, Channel 2 Action News reported.

A 23-year-old woman had a seizure while driving down Collins Industrial Way near Georgia Gwinnett College, Lawrenceville police told Channel 2. Her car swerved off the road, hit a curb feet away from the day care’s fence and flipped into the playground. No children were injured.

Courtney Walker was dropping off her 1-year-old when the accident occurred. She scrambled with parents and teachers to ensure children were safe, she told Channel 2.

“We were all in shock and screaming,” Walker said. “We were trying to find out, ‘Where are the kids? Are any of the kids under the car?’”

Tony Van Valkenberg, the owner of the day care, felt past safety drills helped them clear the area and ensure nobody was injured by the car.

“We plan for these things all the time, but you don’t wake up in the morning thinking a car’s going to go through your playground,” he told Channel 2.

The driver, who has not been identified, is being treated at a hospital.
