Car collides with truck during police chase in Duluth

An unidentified man was airlifted to the hospital after colliding with a truck following a high-speed chase with police in Duluth, Channel 2 Action News reports.

The collision, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, shut down Buford Highway at Duluth Highway late into the night as police combed through the wreckage. One witness told Channel 2 the Chrysler 300 was traveling in excess of 100 mph when it plowed into a truck hauling electronics.

Officials told the station the chase was initiated after the car ran a red light. The condition of the driver, pulled from the vehicle with the "jaws of life," according to Channel 2, is unknown.
