A Canton woman accused of running down 12 people in her SUV told a Florida newspaper she is competent to stand trial.
Andrea Zampatti, 37, faces 14 charges related to a series of accidents April 23 that began when she hit a bicyclist in her 2006 Land Rover, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Zampatti also hit two sheriff's deputies and tried to run away before she was captured, police said. Several people were injured in the string of accidents, but no one was killed.
She has been held in the St. Johns County jail without bond since her arrest.
Last month, a judge declared Zampatti incompetent to stand trial, but she claims that is untrue, according to the Jacksonville Times Union.
