Canton officials broke ground this week on an extension of the Etowah River Park Trail. The three-quarter-mile pathway will link Etowah and Heritage parks, and is part of a larger series of projects that will eventually link three major parks in the city.

The contractor on the $373,000 project is Curb Tech. City officials said construction will take two to three months depending on the weather.

Following several more phases, a continuous trail will connect Heritage, Boling and Etowah River parks.
