Candler hosts youth interested in theology

Thirty-nine rising  high school juniors and seniors interested in learning more about theology are participating in a program at Emory University's Candler School of Theology.

The 18th annual Youth Theological Initiative Summer Academy is an intensive residential program that runs through July 31.

Young participants are here from across the United States, the Bahamas, Jerusalem and Mexico and represent several Christian denominations including Methodist, Baptist, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian and Disciples of Christ.  While at Emory, they will take classes, attend workshops with Candler faculty and work with agencies in metro Atlanta.

The YTI summer program began in 1993 through a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. The program recently received a $1 million sustaining grant from Lilly.
