The cash-strapped state Department of Transportation may have had to curtail mowing this summer, but that only mobilized a new political action group in Paulding County. Call them Bushhog Vigilantes.
Organized by Griffin White, some 10 tractors began mowing around U.S. 278 on Wednesday, trimming the county’s main thoroughfare because, frankly, it was time for a trim. White dubbed it a “Community Bushhogging Event.”
“Industry is moving in and we never know who’s looking at us,” White told Paulding County commissioners this week. Besides that, “The Neighborhood Café is giving us fried chicken, green beans and tater salad.”
More cleanup projects will be taking place in both Paulding and Cobb counties over the weekend during the second annual “Community Makeover.” Around 2,000 people from 38 churches have signed up so far, according to Paulding Commission Chairman David Austin.
