A burglary call at a Stockbridge apartment led to the discovery of marijuana, tens of thousands of dollars in cash and the arrests of two men, Clayton County police said Wednesday.

Melvin Lewis Jr. and Miayiaki Lanee High, both 26, have been charged with numerous offenses including possession of a controlled substance and manufacturing a controlled substance, police said.

High lives at the Stockbridge address, in the Villas of Hanover Apartments, and Lewis lives in Ellenwood, and were booked into Clayton County Jail late Tuesday night, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s website.

Lewis also was charged with obstructing a police officer, the sheriff’s office said.

Officers responding to a burglary call about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the apartment and called narcotics detectives.

The detectives obtained and executed a search warrant and found 87.4 grams of marijuana, and a large plastic bale wrapper with marijuana residue. Police said the device was used to package marijuana.

Officers also seized a 2005 Infiniti sport-utility vehicle, a 2004 Infiniti sedan and $22,033 in cash, police said.
