A Forsyth County man who tried to burglarize his neighbor's house for the second straight day was arrested after a standoff with a police SWAT team Wednesday afternoon.
The two-hour standoff began when a homeowner in the Ansley at Pilgrim Mill neighborhood, north of Cumming, called police around 12:40 p.m. to report a burglar in his home, Capt. Tim House of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said.
The homeowner told police he has a video surveillance system and his home computer alerted him that someone was in the home.
The homeowner told police he was watching a neighbor, Adam R. Wesley, inside the residence, House said. When officers arrived at the Carnegie Hall Court home, the 28-year-old Wesley was still inside and refused to come out and surrender.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., the shirtless man was placed into handcuffs.
Tuesday, a burglar entered the same home and took a credit card, which was later used and left at a nearby gas station, House said.
Pictures from the homeowner's surveillance camera linked Wesley to that crime, police said.
Investigators had already taken out warrants for Wesley on burglary and theft charges for the Tuesday incident, House said. Additional charges are pending from Wednesday's incident.
Wesley is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center.
