A single lane is to be closed in the coming nights on Browns Bridge Road (Ga. 369) as part of the ongoing project to replace the bridge over Lake Lanier, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

The lane closure is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, GDOT said. Traffic control measures will guide traffic from one side of the bridge to the other.

“The good news is, the project has seen immense progress from last summer, when rain and lake levels put bridge building progress in a slump,” GDOT said. “Additional time was added last fall to the construction contract, updating the completion date to April, 2021.”

Browns Bridge connects Forsyth and Hall counties and carries its namesake road over the main channel of the Chattahoochee River in Lake Lanier. The new bridge will have two, 12-foot lanes and eight-foot shoulders. Scott Bridge Co. Inc. is the contractor for the approximately $28 million project. Information: https://bit.ly/2Avrh9U
