Joni Gilman of Peachtree Ridge High School has been named the 2018 Gwinnett County Public Schools Media Specialist of the Year.

In early March, the Woodward Academy Upper School W.A.Robotics Team 6925 kicked off their robotics season at the Peachtree Regional Gainesville event in Gainesville, Georgia. The team earned the FIRST FRC Rookie All-Star Award that celebrates the rookie team exemplifying a young but strong partnership effort, as well as implementing the mission of FIRST. The team also received the Pit Safety Award for their dedication to safety.

GMC Prep School senior Kaylon Farley earned two service academy appointments to the United States Military Academy West Point and United States Coastguard Academy.

Chattahoochee Technical College honored a select group of eleven students at its Student Leadership Academy graduation ceremony held on Friday, April 13 at the North Metro Campus in Acworth. Jais Matta, of Cobb County, was selected to receive the program’s top award of $500. Receiving the runner-up award of $250 was Katherine Fowler, of Cobb County. Both scholarship awards were sponsored by Drew Tutton of Open Roads Complete RV.

The Rev. Dwight Andrews of Atlanta has received the Jazz Journalists Association’s 1028 Jazz Hero award.

Luci Caralyne Parden, 14, formerly of Stockbridge won the 2018 World Championship for WIDA Organization, held in Maastricht, Netherlands on April 6 for her Irish dancing.

The Crabapple Middle School PTA has received a first place win among North Fulton County Schools for “Highest Membership Increase.”
