Bragbook for July 6

Woodward Academy fifth-grader Sadie Westlund, a member of the College Park Tumbleweeds Gymnastics team, recently competed in the 30th Annual Gasparilla Classic in St. Petersburg, Florida. She earned 1st on Floor Exercise with a score of 9.175; 1st on Balance Beam with a score of 9.300; 1st on Vault with a score of 9.750; and 3rd on Bars with a score of 9.050. She also won the Level 3 All-Around title for her age group with a combined score of 37.275 a personal best.

The Sequoyah High School Literary Team is the 2018 Georgia 6A Literary State Champion. The team won out over the 31 6A high schools that participated in the 2018 high school Literary Team competition, which features events in Dramatic Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Boys Quartet, Solo, Girls Trio, and Dramatic Interpretation. Members from the Sequoyah HS team, which is coached by teacher and choral director Josh Markham, placed in all categories in which they competed.

Ten Woodward Academy Upper School students participated in the 27th Annual Georgia Photography Awards and Exhibition presented by Pace Academy and sponsored by Atlanta Celebrates Photography. Senior Corrine Cochran won first place in the exhibit. Madison Quarles - Honorable Mention, Ansley Koscik - Honorable Mention, Shree Dhanani - Honorable Mention, Carly Warren - Honorable Mention, Teagan Fritts, Malik Poindexter, Alex Slaughter, Tessa Levy and Carlie Franzman.

Fayette County's Flat Rock Middle School students in Ashley Hare's eighth grade Business Education & Computer Science class has earned a GeorgiaBEST certification after demonstrating their ability to perform the critical soft skills required to succeed in the workplace.

The University of Alabama's Hypatia Chapter inducted local students into the Mortar Board Honor Society: Darby Davenport of Duluth, Ciara Doyle of Roswell, Katherine O'Neal of Kennesaw, Amber Scales of Johns Creek, James Todd of Norcross and Sarah Westmoreland of Buford.
