A woman accused of stealing more than $2,000 from a Cobb County high school booster club was released from jail Monday night.
Stacy Danyelle Newton, 44, was arrested Monday morning and charged with felony theft by taking for allegedly depositing $2,257.02 belonging to the Sprayberry High School track and field team into her personal banking account, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC.
Newton, of Kennesaw, is accused of taking the money between June and August while she served as treasurer of the team's booster club, the warrant states.
Newton was released from Cobb County Jail shortly after 7 p.m. after posting $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
