Investigators recovered a body from Lake Lanier late Sunday morning after receiving a tip from a passerby.

The body was found at Mary Alice Park in Forsyth County and transported to the GBI crime lab where identification will be made.

It is possible that the body could be that of missing boater, George “Marty” Counts, who disappeared Feb. 11 on the lake, investigators said.

Counts, 47, of Tucker, was an avid fisherman and was believed to be operating his boat that evening when the boat was spotted going in circles with no one aboard, the state Department of Natural Resources previously said. The boat ran out of gas and was on the bank when rangers arrived.

Counts was not located during the initial search, which lasted several days and involved various agencies.

Atlanta man riding bike killed by hit and run driver

A 54-year-old Atlanta man riding a bike was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday night, according to police.

Walter Amey was on a bike on Abner Place, not far from his home, around 9 p.m. when he was hit, according to Atlanta police. Amey was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Address records show that Amey lived on Abner Place.

The hit-and-run remained under investigation Sunday morning and no arrests had been made, according to Carlos Campos, police spokesman. Investigators were looking for any witnesses to the crash.

Amey’s daughter, Monica Amey, told Channel 2 Action News her father was very athletic and enjoyed biking and running. Her father was returning from a friend’s home at the time he was hit, she said.

“I know everybody has a conscience and I would ask them to at least come forward, say what you did,” Monica Amey told Channel 2. “There is an innocent man, who had family, a daughter. And he was taken.”
