State authorities were investigating Monday after a body was discovered on the campus of Georgia Perimeter College in Clarkston.

Patrick Bailey, chief investigator with the DeKalb Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but said it was being investigated by the GBI and the GBI Crime Lab.

GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang said the male body was discovered about 7 a.m. Monday by a passerby, “in a grassy area approximately 30 feet from the sidewalk.”

Authorities have not said whether the deceased is a student or employee of the college, which is on North Indian Creek Drive in Clarkston.

“We do not know at this point whether there was foul play involved,” Lang said.

The college also has campuses in Alpharetta, Decatur, Dunwoody and Covington.
