Alicia Earnest, a rising junior at the Atlanta Girl's School and Kara Jones, a rising junior at North Gwinnett High School, won a trip to France through the Green Connection Initiative. The program inspires young people to become environmentally aware and active while strengthening their connection between French and American culture. It is sponsored by the U.S. French Embassy. Alicia and Kara took part in a nationwide video contest where they created separate three-minute videos about urban sprawl, deforestation, and the importance of forest conservation. The videos were reviewed by French Embassy representatives and 12 students won an all-expense paid trip to Saint-Julien en Vercors. Alicia will be blogging about her experiences at www.whileabroadinfrance.tumblr.com
