‘I’ve been shot’: DeKalb woman opens her door to find dying stranger

The woman said she wishes she could have done more to help the man.

Who was this man on the doorstep?

“I’ve been shot, I’ve been shot,” the stranger said when the woman opened the door.

The woman, who told her story to Channel 2 Action News without using her name because of the gravity of the situation, didn't know it, but the man, 25, had been shot at a beauty salon. The shooting happened at Maggie's Weaving Studio outside Stone Mountain, two miles from this woman's house.

“I thought it was a scam,” she said. “He could’ve been trying to break in.”

She saw no blood, but the man told her the shot was in the back, so she went inside to dial 911.

When she came back, he looked dead. He would be pronounced dead later.

The woman wishes she could’ve done more.

Meanwhile, police are investigating.

So far, they say they’ve learned the man, whose name hasn’t been released, was shot after a man and a woman got into an argument with the salon owner.

It isn’t clear who shot.

Police said Tuesday, “There are no suspects in this case.”
