It certainly looked like a dentist office, complete with a chair, tools and even medication.
But a 71-year-old man operating a dental office in his Gwinnett County home isn't a doctor at all, police said.
"He did take dentistry in college so he has some training, but he's never been certified," Cpl. Jake Smith told Channel 2 Action News.
Vladimir Mandzyuk, originally of the Ukraine, was arrested Friday after Gwinnett police visited his Sugar Hill home. A 20-year-old who was treated by Mandzyuk became suspicious of the basement operation and told his parents, who then contacted police, Smith said.
When investigators arrived at the home on Riverside Run Court, Mandzyuk admitted he does not have a dental license here or in his native country. He also doesn't have a business license, police said.
Mandzyuk was transported to the Gwinnett County jail, where he remained Monday night without bond.
